12 Jan 2012 Globe Guard® Die Cut Corrugated Mailers featured in Professional Photographer Magazine!

Professional Photographer magazineWe were very pleased when we found out some of our products would be featured in a leading photographic magazine because we never designed them to be photogenic. Though, after we saw our boxes in this month’s issue, we have to agree our boxes look great. Please read Robyn L. Pollman’s article,"Green ‘n’ Groovy," on page 80. A die cut mailer with a past Our stock 11.125”X8.625”X1” is one of the first mailers we created and it was really made for our own internal use to ship out our stock 100% (PCW) recycled content eco-friendly labels. We needed something that could accommodate the 8.5”X11” sheets of labels and protect them from bending. We all know how bent paper runs through laser or ink jets printers, right? When we could not find anything strong and green enough, we decide to make our own.

13 Oct 2011 Pick and Pack Challenge – Keeping Open Product Clean

I have visited some of the cleanest, neatest, pick-and-pack fulfillment warehouses in the country, yet I have never seen one that does not create and accumulate dust. Between paper dust from boxes, paper void fill and from the products themselves, or even from fork lift use, slow moving or seasonal products can look very old and very dirty in no time at all. We’ve all seen open boxes in a warehouse covered with dust, but what we don’t always see is the products within or how often they have to be discarded because they are no longer sellable. Or, worse yet, when customers complain because they received the item they ordered and it looks soiled or used.

17 Aug 2011 Eco-Friendly, Custom-Printed Die Cut Mailers May Be the Right Green Packaging Solution for Your Web Customers

Custom printed stock corrugated mailersToday, there are few companies selling products wholesale or in brick-and-mortar retail outlets that are not also offering their products directly to consumers via the internet. This relatively new market provides tremendous sales opportunities as well as challenges because the packaging required for this type of customer seems to fall somewhere in between usual retail and wholesale requirements. “I want something more than just a shipping box!” That is a common request by packaging customers and design clients who understand their web customer is technically a direct retail customer who is NOT carrying his product (and packaging) home. The product is being shipped via UPS, FedEx or USPS, so the packaging needs to be more durable than what is typically found on the retail shelf level. Sellers of green products have the additional requirement of making the packaging they are shipping into their customers’ homes as minimal and green as possible. We refer to it as being “eco consistent” when our products, marketing and packaging all communicate the same green message and standards.

15 Jun 2011 Inside Sustainable Packaging Reaches Three Year Anniversary

Inside Sustainable Packaging blog 3 year anniversaryIt’s difficult to believe that we’ve been doing this for three years, but this week marks the third anniversary of the launch of our popular blog. In 2008, our then-marketing director Brad Shorr urged us to blog and share what we know and what we do, with the world. I reluctantly agreed, even though operating a business that openly ran contrary to my nature as well as my experience in the packaging industry, where you learn to never, ever risk educating the competition. Nearly 300 blog posts later, I am thrilled by the results of our outreach and even more grateful for the people and companies it has brought into our lives. If we have educated a competitor or two along the way, it was a small price to pay for the information we’ve been able to share with hundreds, if not thousands, of people, as well as the relationships we have made. One of the things we most appreciate is the feedback we receive from our ISP readers, which is quite often sent to us offline. To commemorate this three year milestone we’ve shared a few of the most frequently asked questions.

Reusable packaging in every form is more popular than ever, and now our paper mailers are reusable too. These heavy duty paper mailers are available gussetted and custom printed but now they can also be manufactured to be easily used a second time.Globe Guard paper mailers Why Globe Guard Paper Mailers? For green minded customers who will not accept plastic products, Globe Guard 50% recycled content paper mailers have been a very effective way to mail or ship relatively flat products such as books, photos, etc. The gussetted, three-dimensional mailer envelopes are ideal for thicker, bulky soft goods like tee shirts and reusable bags. Even though they are paper, they offer enough water resistance for most applications and are strong enough to hold up through USPS, FedEx or UPS shipping.
