Mesh Lock Boxes™ – A Great New E-Commerce Packaging Design

Every once in a while, we come up with a design that is ideal for a wide variety of the DTC applications that are typically brought to us. Those customers often request:

  • Packaging that is easy to assemble and simple to pack.
  • Packaging that helps the product being shipped to arrive attractive and safely.
  • Packaging that does not require the use of void fill, inserts, or other messy cushioning materials.
  • Packaging that is eco-friendly, green and easy to recycle curbside.

How the Salazar Packaging Mesh Box ™ Works

What makes these boxes a great e-commerce packaging solution is that they contain and protect any item being shipped, with a built-in corrugated board mesh panel that firmly holds the item being shipped, without additional components such as glue, tape, bubble, foam, loose fill, or additional corrugated components. The numbered photos below show the process which is:

  1. The die cut box is erected and formed like any other shipping mailer box.
  2. The item being shipped is centered within the box.
  3. The attached mesh panel is folded over the product and into the box base.
  4. The die cut mailer is sealed and labeled, like any other box.

Ideal Applications for our Mesh Lock Box™

  • Bottles of pharmaceuticals in fragile glass vials.
  • Jewelry and other high value potentially damaged products.
  • Premiums, prizes and awards.
  • Items shipping to influencers when presentation most matters.

Is the Mesh Box Right for Everyone?

Unfortunately, not. Each Mesh Box is custom designed for a specific application. It could potentially be for multiple similar size and shape products, as long as they fit within the box dimensions. The MOQ is at least 1,000 depending on size, printing, etc. Printing is available inside and/or out, including flood coat, full coverage printing. Since each Mesh Box is custom designed, custom tooling will be required for each size and product. This will include a cutting die, and if printed, printing plates. Even though the cost per box is very competitive with standard mailer boxes, project cost justification will include these upfront, preproduction costs.
