Tariff Free Boxes for Made in the USA Products

We have zero interest in discussing the politics or pros and cons of the current tariff landscape and simply want to help companies deal with the impact, here and abroad.

Last week I spoke to a brand owner who has been importing his product and e-commerce packaging from China. He indicated he had just received his “tariff bill” and I had no idea that is the way it was handled. I assume that additional tariff expense was simply added to the cost of the product. Since we do not import any of our products, this is all new to us.

Product + shipping+ tariff = uncompetitive cost!

People who import packaging already know that while the cost of certain types of imported packaging can be substantially lower, the additional cost of shipping can make a huge difference in the total, or “landed” price. Add to that communication issues, long lead times, and inconsistent quality and suddenly finding a good domestic source sounds like a great idea.

It all adds up and what was once a great deal, may no longer be a bargain and makes looking at alternatives a good idea.

Domestic Packaging Check List

Here are a few of the many things to consider when decided where you are ordering your packaging:

  • Where is the raw material coming from? Example, plastic mailers made out of imported film, are not really domestic, are they?
  • Where is the packaging actually made? Companies may operate several plants, so asking which one will actually run your packaging is a legitimate question.
  • Who is paying for shipping? You or the producer? What is the cost?
  • Will you have freight options so you can determine which is best for your specific needs?
  • What impact does shipping, and cost have on delivery time? Shipping can easily add 3 to 5 days to delivery, so we always try to produce your product at the closest possible plant.

Communication is Our Greatest Strength

Our people truly distinguish us from anyone else in the industry.
